Oxfam is responding in these areas: Gorkha, Nuwakot, Dhading, Sinduplachowk, Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur. We are urgently looking for dynamic team players in the following position for our response program. The contract is initially for 6 months (extendable) with competitive salary & benefit package.
Shelter Coordinator- Roving
This position will need to select, design and implement the appropriate form of emergency and improved emergency shelter programmes in earthquake affected areas of Kathmandu valley and in districts, in consultation with the beneficiaries, partners, local staff, NGO community and local authorities. Your major responsibility will be to design the earth-quake resistant context specific shelters maximizing the use of local materials and considering community participation; to ensure construction of the structures as per the design; and to build capacity of the workforce needed to implement shelter program in districts and ensure that all shelter activities are based on consultation with displaced/affected families, district and village/town level coordination committees, host populations and other government and non-government stake-holders. You will also need to liaise closely with the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WaSH) and Emergency Food Security and Vulnerable Livelihood (EFSVL) program teams throughout the planning, design and implementation stages of the Nepal Earthquake Response Shelter Program ensuring a multi-sector and integrated response.
Requirements:
Master's degree in architecture, construction management or structural/ civil engineering with relevant experience in humanitarian and reconstruction contexts or Bachelor's degree in civil engineering with structure or construction management major and with significant experience in earth-quake resistant building/shelter design and construction with community participation.
