Infrastructure Specialist Job Vacancy @ ORGUT

ORGUT serves as Management Contractor of the 5-year UNNATI programme operating in seven hill districts in the Eastern Development Region of Nepal. The Programme aims to develop selected agricultural commodity value chains using a market-based, inclusive growth approach complemented with district and farm to market road construction, access to finance, and an improved agricultural/agribusiness policy environment. The Management Contractor is responsible for the value chain and the infrastructure development in the seven districts covered by UNNATI (Taplejung, Panchthar, Ilam, Sankhuwasabha, Terhathum, Dhankuta and Bhojpur).

ORGUT is now looking for an experienced Infrastructure Specialist to be based in Taplejung for the remaining of the project period (till December 2018).

The Infrastructure Specialist will support the DTO on behalf of the project to plan and implement infrastructure in the district.

The qualifications of the position include:
• Civil Engineer with Master Degree with at least 6 years experience or a Bachelor Degree with at least 10 years experience.
• Professional experience should be related to rural infrastructure works (roads, water supply, irrigation and/or community infrastructure works).
• Exposure to working in a diverse range of infrastructure types, including roads, bridges, community infrastructure, etc.
• Experience of working in labour based participatory development of rural infrastructures
• Skills to provide on-the-job training and capacity building training.

Specific Qualifications:
• At least 5 years previous experience in the use of labour-based methods of construction.
• At least 5 years previous experience of working at district level in developing countries.
• Previous knowledge and experience in the use of simple quality control procedures for infrastructure works.
• Previous knowledge and experience in community based infrastructure works.
• Previous knowledge and experience in local participation in the identification and planning of local infrastructure works.
• Good communication skills
• Proficient in English: speaking, reading and writing
