The International Water Management Institute(IWMI) is looking for a person with a master's degree in hydrology/hydrogeology and/or water resources engineering, and with experience in field monitoring. The Research Officer will contribute to monitoring and modeling watershed hydrology, and climate change analysis. The position holder will report to the Senior Researcher-Hydrology Water Resources & Head of Office and will be based at the Kathmandu office of IWMI in Nepal.
You will:
- contribute to the study on watershed intervention in the West Seti Sub-basin
- assist in setting up hydrological and climate monitoring stations in the study watersheds
- assist in collecting and managing hydrological and climate data from the study watersheds
- apply hydrological models(e.g. Soil and Water Assessment Tool[SWAT]) to simulate the impacts of climate change, land-use change and water-use patterns on the basin flow regime
- perform other relevant hydrological and water resources analyses as required by current projects and
- prepare reports on the above analysis
It would be useful if you had:
- experience in working with Regional Climate Models(RCMs)
- groundwater monitoring and modeling skills and
- computer programming skills
