Road Design Engineer Position Job Vacancy @ ITECO Engineering Ltd.

Government of Nepal and the Government of Switzerland have signed a bilateral agreement to initiate the LOCAL ROADS IMPROVEMENT PROGRAMME (LRIP) - PHASE I, in four districts of Nepal namely Ramechhap, Okhaldhunga, Khotang and Sindhuli. Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) will provide a financial and technical supports to the Government of Nepal (GoN) represented by the Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development (MoFALD) and its Department of Local Infrastructure and Agricultural Roads (DoLIDAR).
 
As a result of LRIP (I), it is expected that the people use the improved roads for their economic and social benefits; and the National and local institutions adopt a planned maintenance system for local roads. LRIP will help the 4 Programme districts to annually maintain 750 kms of existing roads of high priority and importance, identified in the 'District Core Road Network' making them all weather; upgrade/rehabilitate 200 kms of existing roads and construct 100 kms of new roads to an all-weather standard.
 
ITECO Engineering Ltd., Switzerland, in this context is setting up a - TA team on behalf of SDC to technically support the Programme districts. In order to supplement its team, ITECO Engineering Ltd. is seeking applications from the qualified and experienced Nepali Nationals for the position as follows:
 
PROGRAMME SUPPORT UNIT
ROAD DESIGN ENGINEER: 1 position - Female only
Qualification and Experience: The Road Design Engineer shall have a Master's degree in civil engineering or equivalent with minimum 10 years of relevant experience.The overall responsibility of the Road Design Engineer is to design roads, culverts and other structural elements together with monitoring and supervision works on behalf of the DDC/DTO. The Road Design Engineer shall also be responsible to train engineers and technicians of the DDC/DTO in managing and supervising the survey, design and cost estimation of road works.
 
The closing date for applications is September 19th, 2014.
Duration of Employment: The initial contracts for the above two positions are of 2 years with a possibility of extension. All positions are based outside Kathmandu, close to one of the programme partner districts and will require frequent field travels.
