Government of Nepal and the Government of Switzerland have signed a bilateral agreement to initiate a LOCAL ROADS IMPROVEMENT PROGRAMME (LRIP) - PHASE I, in four districts of Nepal namely Ramechhap, Okhaldhunga, Khotang and Sindhuli. Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) will provide a financial and technical support to the Government of Nepal (GoN) represented by Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development (MoFALD) and its Department of Local Infrastructure and Agricultural Roads (DoLIDAR).
As a result of LRIP (I) it is expected that the people use the improved roads for their economic and social benefit; and the National and local institutions adopt a planned maintenance system for local roads. LRIP will help the Programme districts to annually maintain 750 kms of existing roads of high priority and importance, identified in the 'District Core Road Network' making them all weather; upgrade/rehabilitate 200 kms of existing roads and construct 100 kms of new roads to an all-weatherstandard.
ITECO Engineering Ltd., Switzerland, in this context is setting up a - TA team on behalf of SDC to support the Programme districts. In order to supplement its team, ITECO Engineering Ltd. is seeking applications from the qualified and experienced Nepali Nationals for the position as follows:
DISTRICT SUPPORT TEAM
1. SUB ENGINEERS : 12 Positions
Qualification and Experience: The Sub-Engineer (Overseer) shall have a diploma degree in civil engineering. S/he shall have at least 4 years experience of working in the field of rural transport infrastructure. The overall responsibility of the Sub-engineer is to manage, implement and supervise LRIP road project. In addition the Sub-engineer on the direction of the District Team Leader/Engineer is required to assist the DDC technical team for the effective implementation of LRIP work activities in the district.
2. ASSISTANT SUB ENGINEERS : 40 Positions
Qualification and Experience: The Assistant Sub Engineer shall have Technical SLC in civil engineering with minimum 2 years of experience in the field of rural transport infrastructures. S/he shall work under direct supervision of sub engineer to implement and supervise LRIP road projects. The contract duration each year will vary between 9 to 12 months per year.
Duration of Employment:
The initial contracts for the above two positions are of 4 years with a possibility of extension. All positions are district based and are transferable within the project districts.
