Rural Access Programme — Phase 3 (RAP3) is a 4-year DFID funded project covering 14 Districts in Nepal. It aims to improve people's incomes and resilience through employment, sustainable access to markets and improved access to economic opportunities. Expected outputs include improved and sustainable access due to climate resilient rural transport infrastructure, maintenance, upgrading and road/trail-bridge construction.
The Programme has commenced its main implementation phase and now wishes to engage the following full-time field-based staff for assignment in a neighbouring District to Kathmandu:
1. District Team Leader (Engineering)
To be considered for this post, candidates must:
a) Be degree qualified in Civil Engineering with a minimum of 8 years relevant post-graduate professional experience in related road assignments,
b) Have at least 2 years of experience in the position of 'Team Leader' (Engineering) or equivalent managerial experience,
c) Be immediately available (applicant must state his earliest available joining date),
d) Must not be presently engaged by a Consultant under a current RAP3 assignment.
The assigned engineer is expected to manage and support external consultants engaged to implement the programme's road improvement and maintenance initiatives carried out largely through Road Maintenance Groups, User-Committees and small contractors using Labour Based Equipment Supported methods. Suitable candidates will be experienced in road design, maintenance and works supervision on district roads. Assignments are expected to start by early March 2014 and will be renewable annually.
